[ He'd noticed - how could he not - that Yuuma hadn't been wearing the Emperor's Key. Even if he hadn't have noticed, it would have been remedied by Kotori coming to him, appealing for him to help.
(Yuuma wouldn't talk about the Key, she'd said, or Astral)
(he'd asked her what she was talking about)
Shark was, he supposes, more successful. Yuuma had-- he had mentioned Black Mist, at least, and Shark remembers Yuuma telling him about the 96th number with something almost like fear and disgust below the surface, not the barely-concealed... something that he'd spoken about it with now.
(he'd still been himself though, mostly)
(so delighted, when Shark had asked if he could come over after school)
(so much so that Shark feels bad for using it as a chance to find the Key)
Still though, he thinks, sitting on his own bed and holding the Key - the Key that had been dropped carelessly in the middle of Yuuma's bedroom floor as though he couldn't even see it - it's worth it, isn't it? The sooner he finds out what's wrong, the better. And if Yuuma can't see Astral (and Shark thinks maybe that's true and if it is then he doesn't want to be involved but he has to, doesn't he, especially if Kaito is involved in this too and he's the only one really left) then better that someone who can actually potentially make use of any advice he has take care of the Key on his behalf?
Lifting it up, he eyes the gem in the centre and frowns.
(it feels stupid, even knowing Astral is in there, but--) ]
Astral. Astral, can you hear me?
